The easiest way: bus, train and Park and Ride
In advent, the City of Münster and its partners deliberately encourage buses, trains and Park and Ride to keep the old town clear. For you that means: no hunting for a space, no congested lanes — and the cheapest way into the centre.
Coesfelder Kreuz car park
Park and Ride · Saturday 8 am–11 pm
About 1,000 spaces, €5 per day. With the parking ticket, up to five people travel on by bus at no extra charge:
- Lines 11 & 12 → 'Aegidiimarkt' stop
- Lines 1 & 5 → 'Altstadt/Bült' stop
Ticket via QR code on your phone, no machine on site.

At these spots parking is free; you only pay for the bus ride:

Advent timetable
On advent Saturdays the city buses run every 30 minutes (some every 20) until about 9 pm, then the night bus every half hour until 11 pm, and hourly after that. On Sundays the Sunday and holiday timetable applies.

Into the old town by car
If you do come by car, it's best to follow the parking guidance system — it leads you to the nearest car park with free spaces and shows the current occupancy on the way. An honest word: on advent Saturdays the old town is busy and the central car parks fill up fast. Park and Ride gets you there far more calmly.
Tip: if you want to start at the Lichtermarkt
The Theater car park on Tibusstraße is just a few minutes' walk away, goes six levels underground (so there's almost always a space) and stays open late into the evening — comfortable even after dark. From there you walk via Voßgasse and Alter Fischmarkt straight to the Lichtermarkt in a few minutes. On advent Saturdays, when the old town is busy, Park and Ride from the Coesfelder Kreuz is the more relaxed option — that's when the bus pays off.

Arriving and parking with accessibility
The Stubengasse car park offers four spaces for people with disabilities — centrally located between the markets. Important: the disabled parking spaces on Heinrich-Brüning-Straße are not available during the Christmas market period. All routes between the markets are step-free; the historic cobblestones in the old town are, however, uneven.

How do I reach the markets most cheaply?
Most cheaply by Park and Ride: at the Coesfelder Kreuz €5 per day, bus ride for up to five people included. At the mobility hubs and the Preußenstadion parking is free; you only pay for the bus.
Can I drive into the old town?
Yes, via the parking guidance system. Comfortable on quiet weekday evenings — but on advent Saturdays the old town is busy and the car parks fill up fast. Better to use Park and Ride then.
How do I get back in the evening?
